Push Feds Not to Deprive Nat. Guard Troops of Full Benefits When Mobilized for COVID-19

Push Feds Not to Deprive Nat. Guard Troops of Full Benefits When Mobilized for COVID-19
Why this petition matters

Federal funds under Title 32 have been approved for mobilizing National Guard troops where needed to combat COVID-19. Under Title 32, as long as troops are mobilized for at least 31 days they get benefits similar to active duty troops, such as Tricare health insurance and an increase in their Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). Yet, the current Title 32 authorizations are only for 30 days, thereby robbing soldiers and their families of benefits commensurate with the services they will be ordered to provide if mobilized. In times like these, such a decision demonstrates a callous disregard for members of our military and military families who have dedicated substantial time, resources, and energy into serving our nation. I, ___________________, call on federal leadership to right this wrong by extending the COVID-19 Title 32 authorization to 31 days, thereby ensuring National Guard troops have the appropriate Tricare insurance benefits and increased BAH during COVID-19 related mobilizations.
