With all due respect to freedom of the press, the White House Press Briefing Room is limited in space, and the time the Press Secretary or other speakers are given to disseminate information to the public of a critical nature is limited.  It is thus extremely important that those given access to that room, do so in a respectful manner to those speaking, and their fellow press around them, rather than constantly interrupting the proceedings taking place.

Therefore it has become pertinent to address the actions of one particular individual who is abusing his access and thwarting the proper access to press information.

Jim Acosta has abused his press credentials to ask questions from the current administration, by making it clear he is not interested about information being provided or requesting other information, but, rather, carrying on an intentional campaign to perpetually become the story himself, as a side distraction to the actual press briefing.  This is not looking for press access, but a calculated political move, of vocal opposition, which has no place in a setting before unelected individuals carrying on the business of the government.

He constantly talks over and interrupts other reporters who are asking legitimate pertinent questions, with lengthy diatribes that rarely actually contain questions, and often equate to red herring distractions to the actual topics of the briefing on hand.  He continually interrupts the designated speakers, including the Press Secretary, and other specialists who are brought in to provide more in depth information to the public.  His behavior has become so rude and distracting, that often times, other reporters are unable to get to the questions they would like to ask, and that more information is not able to be provided when needed.

He is thus not working to seek free press, but rather to limit press interaction to only that he wants to be involved in, and is thus preventing others access to free press, and the public access to information.

Therefore, we ask, that you appropriately remove Jim Acosta's access to the White House Press Briefings, and restore proper order to them.

Sincerely,

- The Public at Large -
