Caleb D started this petition to President Donald J. Trump and

Police officers across the united states wear body cams while on duty and there are some states that do not have policies as to who can request access to body cam footage.

For example, Alabama has no laws on body footage regarding public access from officer's body cams and can deny any request, in a previous bill to be passed it was stated that "Body cam footage IS NOT a public record'

But wait.... What about family members of a victim from the carelessness of a police officer that has taken a life because he "Thought" he had a gun or the victims who have been slammed to the ground for no apparent reason and still was arrested?

Another example, Take the article from AP News where an officer was caught striking a man with his service weapon (A Handgun) until he fell to the ground and the autopsy showed that he was killed by a gunshot would to the back of the head.

AP NEWS - "An investigation by The Associated Press has found that police departments routinely withhold video taken by body-worn and dashboard-mounted cameras that show officer-involved shootings and other uses of force."

Family members and other citizens who are effected in this manner by police officers should have the right to have access to body cam footage and have the right to request it WITHOUT being denied access.

We are asking out leaders and fellow citizens to take a stand and help us make a change in this matter.
