Nicotine at 18 is a privilege that can and has been taken away. However it is unfair and wrong to give 18 year olds all the responsibility of being a legal adult without any benefits such as nicotine. If I can throw my money into more than likely worthless lotto tickets why can’t I make the decision to use tobacco products. It is simply Darwinism, if 18 year olds want to smoke so be it. If teens want to illegally obtain nicotine so be it. It is a decision they will have to live with. It is however not a decision for the government to make on behalf of every human under the age of 21. Furthermore the government has laws in place to “prevent” (using it loosely as it does nothing to prevent) those of age purchasing tobacco, alcohol and in some states marijuana. Enforce those laws instead of stripping 18-20 year olds of their right to tobacco. If they can play the lotto they can chew the ‘bacco.
