Allow SSI, and SSDI applicants to save more then 2,000$ in their bank accounts before losing their benefits.

Reason:

  •  First and last month's rent deposits usually cost more.
  • If you own an aging pet, any needed surgery costs between 2-5000$ Forcing them to take out loans on loved ones that take years to pay back.
  • The Pandemic shows that there are a lot of complications providing stimulus to those on these services due to the very low amounts. Thus simplifying stimulus to those that are disabled in the future.
  • We already struggle to make ends meat. Most of us live below the poverty line by over 250%. If a parent dies and a disabled child inherits a house, they lose several months worth of disability benefits because of "new found wealth" even if they live there. This pushes them further into debts as they then have to take out loans to pay bills that month which once you fall down that rabbit hole.. It's impossible to get out of, and even help from family costs you your benefits.
  • Gifting before it is taxed is 7 times higher than the ability to save your own money($15,000). So If you have someone 'gift' you any of the above you lose your benefits, even if its not actual income.
  • We are unable to save for emergencies or speciality healthcare costs unless we go through a high fee bank account that ranges from 65-100$ per month, via corrupted state bank account called ABLE.
  • Most of us can't afford to live alone, we have to have a random person live with us if we do not have any extra family members. But then their income is counted towards our limits and we can lose our benefits or have the benefits decreased to non-existent.
  •  We are unable to save up any money to donate towards campaigns. To support causes, charities and beliefs. Most of those that live in poverty are also the most giving.
  •  These limits were fine back in 1970 when housing rent was under  500$ So it's very much out of date. Due to inflation soon we will be unable to actually claim our benefits!

Full Detailed Request: Allow, ssi and ssdi applicants to have a savings balance of $15,000 (same as yearly gift limit before they are taxed!).  This will allow them to afford a car to try and better their lives through jobs. A pet emergency, which most have as emotional/health support animals. As well as cushion for stimulus packages, that the government gives out to regular people and often excludes the disabled because of the low limits.
