Removing a child from their family is a traumatic experience for the child and in many cases, should be a last resort only after support services to assist the family remain intact are unsuccessful.  However, many children are removed unnecessarily from their family, placed in cps custody and experience abuse or neglect and are trafficked.  When a CPS social worker convinces a court that they MUST remove a child from their family in order to protect that child, they MUST BE HELD responsible for any abuse or neglect that child suffers as a result.  The federal government is funding the foster care system in each state.  When an agency places a child into foster care and asks the federal government to help pay for the care of that child, and then accept the funding, they create a fiduciary relationship to protect and care for that child and the federal government should enforce the requirement for the child to be protected.

Too often, the news reports on a foster parent abusing or killing a foster child.  Stories come out on social workers that fail to screen placements or follow up on placements and don’t even know where the children are.  The situation is even more dire for children placed in group homes.  Some of the children in group homes are allowed to come and go as they please.  Teens that have a strict parent at home, choose to remain in the group home in order to have freedoms they wont get at home.  Some children in group homes engage in sexual relationships, drugs, and criminal behavior.  When children are injured or die when they leave the group home to participate in activities that are dangerous, the group home is not held responsible.

Please sign this petition to DEMAND THAT THEY ARE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND HELD TO A HIGHER STANDARD THAN THE PARENTS WHO THEY HAVE JUDGED AS INCAPABLE OF RAISING THEIR OWN CHILDREN!
