My Father was charged with a nonviolent drug offense in November 2012. He is not a U.S. citizen so he was offered to fight his case in prison or to voluntarily depart the country. He decided to depart the country and has lived in Mexico for 6 years. Since living there he has not tried to illegally come back to the U.S.

Since living in Mexico my father has overcome his battle with drugs and is active in the sister church of his home church in Anaheim, Ca called Victory Outreach.

My fathers absence has impacted my family financially, emotionally and mentally. I went to Navy Basic Training a few months after he was convicted and my mother was left to raise 3 children alone. She relied on my income for basic needs and my eldest sisters availability to get the kids to school and after school activities. My mother has held the family together by continuously visiting my father in Mexico but it isn’t the ideal situation for my family. My father had been living in Buena Park, Ca since he was 2 years old. He considered the U.S. his home. He takes pride in the U.S. My father raised us in the Christian church for 19 years. He was active in the church, from evangelizing to helping physically build the church. He fell and went into a downward spiral but everyone makes mistakes and he deserves a second chance to reunite with our family. Thank you.
