Many journal articles or newspaper pieces have a paywall so that the average person cannot read the latest publications about the coronavirus.  It is important that people be given access to the latest peer-reviewed results as well as the latest information about the coronavirus.

Allowing companies and for-profit journals to profit from this pandemic should be illegal. 

There needs to be a change that makes all access to any coronavirus related information free.  This includes newspapers like the New York Times or Wall Street Journal that have put up paywalls in front of potentially life saving information. 

It should be illegal for them to force the poor to pay for access to information that could help save their lives. 

The companies that do put up pay walls in front of coronavirus information should be punished by severe fines and the proceeds sent to help the poor and the health workers dealing with this national disaster.

We request that the president use his authority to force all companies that release coronavirus material do to so for free.  This should be limited to newspaper reports as well as research in peer reviewed journals that are the best sources of information aside from the WHO, CDC, etc...

The time to act on this is now and it is time that companies stop trying to profit from the pandemic causing so many deaths and ruining so many lives.  The should act immediately to stop this horrendous practice by newspapers like the New York Times, Washington Post, WallStreet Journal etc...
