I hope that the relevant authorities would seriously consider to suspend schools for 2 weeks.

I understand that it might cause a lot of inconvenience but it is necessary to do so.

Our students are our future Hope. Young children are vulnerable to virus.

The immunity of young children are weak. We should protect our young ones. 

The virus is fast spreading within the community and we should not take any chances. 

During this 2 weeks, teachers can arrange for students to study from home. 

Even though, school assembly and other internal activities were suspended but there is much more to be done.

I hope the many of you who are parents out there will support this petition. 

The death toll currently is more than 400 and 28 regions and/or countries are affected. 

Just because there is a possibility that the students will not be infected doesn’t mean that it’s a risk people are willing to take. 

In 2003, the number of SARS cases was about 8000 and there were 33 deaths in Singapore. 

School was shut down for a few weeks in order to decrease the chances of students getting infected, and that is exactly what should be happening really soon, if not now!

People don’t want the school closures to occur only when it’s too late and when community spread starts. 

Schools should be closed down NOW before it’s too late.
