Bangladesh is a Muslim Majority nation with Islam as its Official religion of the country professed by the majority and freedom of religion is guaranteed by its constitution in which it gives equal rights to all citizens irrespective of religion.

The major religion in Bangladesh is Islam (90%), but a significant percentage of the population adheres to Hinduism (9%). Other religious groups include Buddhists 0.6%, (mostly Theravada), Christians (0.3%, mostly Roman Catholics), and Animists (0.1%). Bangladesh was founded as a secular state, but Islam was made the state religion in the 1980s. But in 2010, the High Court held up the secular principles of the 1972 constitution. The High Court also strengthened its stance against punishments by Islamic edict (fatwa), following complaints of brutal sentences carried out against women by extra-legal village courts.

Last Saturday one of Bangladeshi citizen Priya Saha accused to United State’s President Mr. Donald J. Trump that a large number of minority people in Bangladesh assaulted by fundamentalist people.

She Said to Mr. Donald Trump “I am from Bangladesh and here is the 37 million Hindu, Buddhist and Christian are disappeared. Please, help us, the Bangladeshi people. We want to stay in our country. Still there are 18 million minority people. My request is: please help us, we don’t want to leave our country. Just help us to stay. I have lost my home, they burnt my home, they taken my land; but no judgment here taken place… please.”

This is a bad practice and foolish attitude of a citizen who know that Bangladesh is a country where have a United State’s consulate and also well known place for local Garments production and business relation with United States of America.  The humane attitude and generosity of Bangladesh government have been commended by whole world when Bangladesh decided to temporarily shelter more than 1.1 million forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals, it mentioned.

Otherwise Trump as a president too knew that false allegations are made to him. The US administration regularly gets information through its embassy in Dhaka and the two governments are always in touch. Bangladesh is a good example of religious harmony. Yes, some people damage it either for personal interest or without understanding it, but Priya’s statement to Mr. President might be getting a favor from him. It must be a poor practice against her country.

Every citizens of Bangladesh deserve the right thinking of this country culture and religious practice to Mr. President of United States of America.
