This is pretty simple.

We should, as a nation, reward the heroism of brave young men like Kendrick Castillo.

One would hope that national media and press coverage would make clear all the reasons why his actions can and should be held up as a shining example of personal sacrifice for the benefit of others without the possibility of direct reward.

Mr. Castillo gave his life so that others may live.

The least we can do is recognize the value of this sort of heroism in the hearts of American men by posthumously offering this award to thank his parents for raising such an upstanding and courageous son that stood in opposition to the forces of nihilism and death.

Whether this petition goes anywhere or not I personally want to thank the parents of Kendrick for their sacrifice and to offer the knowledge that there are millions of people in this nation that stand in awe of the heart and spirit of your son. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
