The Death Penalty is very cruel and inhumane. Most of the inmates on death row have either had a traumatic childhood or have mental illness. Furthermore, There have been a lot of botched executions in the past. For example, there have been reports of inmates saying that there body is burning during the execution. This is because the drugs they use on inmates are not FDA approved. We need to stop the death penalty because it violates United States Constitution. The death penalty does not deter crime. There is actually a higher crime rate in states that have the death penalty than states that don't. In addition, It is way more cheaper to keep the prisoners incarcerated than to execute them. There are around 500 innocent people on death row currently. The odds of receiving a death sentence are nearly 4 times higher if the defendant is black than white.
