On Friday, June 12, 2020 a 27-year-old man named Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed by Atlanta police. He resisted and a struggle ensued, prompting one of the officers to deploy their Taser. Brooks was able to obtain the Taser before trying to run away, and then officers pursued Brooks on foot, and during the chase, Brooks turned and pointed the Taser at the officer. The officer fired his weapon, striking Brooks. This is a clear example of how ineffective a tazer is, in instances  where the suspect has a less weapon, a knife, crowbar, ballbat ect. If the officer in question was given, instead of a tazer, an extra sidarm (along with the pistol of his/her choice) loaded with rubber, plastic, clay, ect. .22 or higher caliber ( .22 can general hold more rounds) it would give the officers a more effective way to disarm their adversaries. Another example : Errol Shaw Sr., 39, was armed only with a rake, and was deaf and mute, unable to hear officers commands was shot to death in Detroit in the year 2000. In both the above examples the officers would have had a more effective,  less lethal approach to subduing an armed suspect who was not armed with a gun. Killings by police officers are a daily event in the United States; at least 400 are reported to the FBI each year, and the true total is almost certainly far higher. The death count could be lowered and possibly eliminated with the right technology. It would also be a great asset to every patrol car in the United States to have a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with bean bag or rubber buck shot rounds. Laser sighting with a green laser (brighter than red) This is an effory to protect the sanctity of human life. Thank you for your consideration.
