Georgena Gilbert started this petition to don valley academy and

Parents and carers of Don Valley Academy found out on the first day of school that the school bus serving Arksey, Doncaster was no longer running to take the children to school but would drop them off at the end of the day. This was after leaving the new Y7 starters stranded at the bus stop.

After several phone calls to Don Valley Academy and assurances being given that a bus was going to collect the children, parents rallied round and managed to drop all the children at school.

This was not the end...…. the bus didn't turn up to bring them home either! Again after several phone calls to the school the children were brought home by teachers.

At 6pm the same evening parents received a text message to say that the Arksey school bus was no longer running in the mornings.

Along with parents and carers, Don Valley Academy and Doncaster Council have a duty of care to our children. It take 45 minutes to walk to school over the busy railway crossing and come winter the mornings will be in the dark.

I can foresee the children taking unnecessary risks across the railway crossing as they are petrified of being late and everyone who knows of Arksey crossing know they can be down for 20 minutes or more at any one time.

The bus is still serving Scawthorpe, Bentley and Toll Bar...….. why not Arksey?

Don Valley Academy is the feeder school from Arksey and many parents and carers do not have a choice but to send their children to this school.

The school have basically stated that it is not their problem so we as parents and carers need to act for the safety of our children!
