Spring season sports; girls and boys lacrosse, flag football, and outdoor track; have been facing adversity for the past three years due to COVID. We were stripped of our seasons in 2020, forced to share limited space with every sport from all seasons and had many restrictions in 2021. And now as we are mid way through our first “normal season” we are faced with an obstacle that can be avoided. The Tottenville High School athletic field and track is going under construction, leaving everyone who uses it stranded. We are forced to resort to other fields or take away practice and game times from our softball and baseball teams. We will no longer have home games, a practice field/track of our own, and our senior nights were planned within a few days, unlike past years or other teams who were able to have a whole season lead up to this sacred night with ample time for preparation. We as Tottenville High School athletes and families want to postpone the construction of our field and allow everyone to conclude their season on our own turf!
