NO future golf course on the Beeliar bush corridor !
Why this petition matters
A future golf course on the Beeliar bush corridor would destroy bushland we cannot afford to lose, harming the future of native species, climate change resilience, the urban heat effect, and taking away yet another place for future generations to witness real nature in their own backyard.
Despite the fact there are already numerous golf courses within short driving distance in our ever connected city; they are an irresponsible use of land and water, creating an artificial monoculture that has vastly more inputs than outputs ecologically speaking, an ever growing concern in our drying climate that we should all be wary of.
Bushland on the other hand cools down the surrounding area, holds water where it should be (especially given this sites hill location), creates areas for open recreation and natural learning, and secures a home and stepping stone for native plants and animals.
I ask you to urge decision-makers to reconsider and reject this development, and negotiate funding for rehabilitation of the most vital natural resource we have.
Losing bushland is no longer profitable, no matter the land use.
