Morris, Connecticut; founded in 1723. Population; 2,393. One blinking stop light in the center of town. A farming community, with small town values. Often a destination for people to escape the bustle of surrounding towns, to admire our rolling hills. Our community is known for it's history, it's beautiful land, and best of all it's quaintness. Why, I ask myself, would Dollar General seek out our charming tiny town, to open one of it's stores? I have spoken to my fellow neighbors, and no one wants this. Morris is the home to Farmer's Markets, Nursery's, and Mom & Pop stores that have been here for generations. There is no room, no want, no need, for a Dollar General to occupy any space in Morris. The residents don't want your business, the town doesn't want you on our land. This petition is a plea to firmly, and kindly ask that Dollar General listens to the people of Morris, and stops it's intention to open a business here.
