In Michigan you can be fired just for being gay or transgender. Sounds unbelievable, but it’s true! If your employer even thinks you might be gay, you could lose your job.
The Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act protects against workplace discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion and national origin. Michigan also needs to protect gay and transgender people from this type of discrimination. 65% of Michigan voters agree it’s time for this law to change.
Gay and transgender people don't need to change themselves. Instead, we need to change the law. Tell House Speaker Bolger to change the law to protect all Michiganders. Sign the petition today and let Bolger and your representatives know that it's time to change the law.
