A famous quote about plastics is by Buck Henry. “I just want to say one word to you-just one word… Plastics!!!… There’s a great future in plastics.” Buck Henry is an actor in America. 

             Plastics are an important part of our lives because we use plastics every day. Is it that important? We use plastics but are they worth it? All the plastics go into the ocean but is it still worth it? We use plastics and those plastics could also make air pollution. Is it still worth it? But, have you ever had a good thing without any risks? I think it's the same with plastics and for other objects too. Plastics made our life a lot easier. Try to imagine yourself in the morning. What’s the first thing you touch? Some people use slippers but what are they made out of? Plastics!! If you wake up and brush your teeth what are you grabbing? Yes, you are grabbing a toothbrush but what is it made out of? Plastic!!! What do you squeeze to get the toothpaste out? Plastics!!!! As you can see we use plastics every day and I strongly believe that plastics are important. 

         Lots of people say that plastics are bad for the environment. But I think of it differently. I think that humans are the ones using plastics the wrong way. A few examples of this reason are that plastics were made for us to live comfortably. A man named Leo Baekeland made plastics with trees. But then plastics were getting famous and useful. This man made this because there was a price if he made plastics for humans to use. As you can see, nothing is wrong with this because it does not harm the environment but some scientists want to make more money so they have experimented with plastics. The experiment was a success and now we use the plastics that are made by scientists which are bad plastics, which also harm the environment. Another example is that they were made for humans comfortably. I think people will make other things the same as plastics. You might say don’t make things that didn’t even happen. But what if I say it did happen. An example of this is the supermarket. You might say nothing changed in the supermarket. Well then keep reading and find out what happened. What happened in the supermarket was that the supermarket changed the paper to plastic. Why this happened was because of the paper waste. As you can see this could happen to plastics too.

            Some people say that plastics aren’t that useful but I think it differently. We can use plastics in a better way than inventing them because if we use plastics in a useful way it will be useful and it won’t harm the environment but if we use them in a bad way like we are there will be trash in the ocean and air pollutants. But how can we do this? We can do this by upcycling. Instead of recycling because it takes a while to recycle but it’s much easier to upcycle. But what is an upcycle? Upcycle is when you use plastics as a brand new material and make other things. As you can see we can decide and we can change the world.

       At last for other people, it’s easy to say that plastics are harmful to the environment but if we look at the facts there are more things that we need to focus on than plastics. There are lots of other things that are harming the environment like oil spilling, ocean mining, and littering which has plastics in it too. Try to compare plastics vs. oil spilling, littering but no plastics involved, and ocean mining. I think oil spilling, littering but no plastics involved, and ocean mining will cause more. So as you can see there are lots of other things that can harm the environment other than plastics.

            As a result, I strongly believe that plastics are useful and that it’s one of the needs in our life. Even though they have negative parts, there are lots of parts of plastics that help us. For example, as I told you before in the article, the plastics itself is good but it’s the humans that are ruining them so I think if we ban plastics humans will make another thing and it will repeat. Therefore, I strongly believe that we shouldn’t ban plastics and use them. One of your choices matters to us as the humans on earth.
