Adding commercial businesses to our neighborhood will cause increased traffic for the hundreds of neighbors that live near Willow Haven Park and the safety of hundreds of school children that walk to elementary and middle school. This will also impact our property values and change the character and purpose of our neighborhood.

On Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, the Lehi City Council could vote to change the zoning of the properties on the corner of 2375 West (322 & 344 North 2375 West) to Neighborhood Commercial. See Agenda Item 7 for details on the request.

This property is owned by Jeffrey Merchant and is the location of the former Beehive Home.

A change in zoning from VLDRA (very low-density residential agriculture) to Neighborhood Commercial would be detrimental to our neighborhood for many reasons.

A change to neighborhood commercial would allow the current owner or anyone else in the future to change the use of that property from an Elderly Care Facility to a multitude of other business types that would negatively impact our residential street including:

Retail Shops with drive-thru windows
Restaurants
Dance, Gymnastics, or Martial Arts Studios
Bed and Breakfast
Daycare
Financial Institutions
Health or Fitness Clubs
Medical or Dental Offices
Professional Office Buildings

Additionally, the hours of operations for these businesses would be 6 am-11 pm (Sunday through Thursday) and 6 am-midnight on weekends.

We don't need additional traffic that causes a safety concern for a busy corner where hundreds of elementary and middle school age children pass through daily. The children also frequently play at Willow Haven Park directly across the street to the west.

The owner of the property has already listed it for sale and mentions that the building and land could be used for businesses other than elderly care in his listing.

Please sign this petition to show the City Council that you don't want commercial businesses to be located in our neighborhood.
