Rationalisation of Flight Cancellation Charges: Need for a Transparent & Uniform Policy

On a recent occasion, I became very much shocked when I got a refund of less than Rs.2000/- after cancellation of tickets costing me around Rs.14,500/- even though the date of travel was 20 days ahead. This was, however, not the first time the Airlines had deducted a hefty amount as cancellation charges. The entire process appears to be arbitrary and lacks transparency. I am sure, everybody must have faced / have been facing the same ordeal when s/he had / has to cancel tickets for unforeseen situations.

Under the circumstances, a need is felt for a transparent and uniform cancellation policy for air ticket cancellation on the lines of Indian Railways.
