To whom it may concerned,
I have been informed that Dog 66 in Monaghan Pound (male, rough collie approx 5) will be euthanised if not reclaimed by owner despite being offered rescue space in UK. I have been informed that this is due to an “alleged attack on another dog / owner .
It is the councils policy not to release a dog in these circumstances for rehoming or to a rescue , hence owner reclaim only”.
Although I understand the need to protect the public from dangerous dogs this dog and other dogs will die as the result of allegations .
I would implore the council to change this policy so that there must be evidence that a dog is aggressive before a decision is made that it is “owner reclaim only”
