Off Leash Dog Parks have enormous benefits for the county and local businesses. They promote dog-control laws including vaccinations, responsible dog ownership, reducing dog barking noise issues in residential areas as well as other dog behavioral issues, picking up after the dogs, etc. They provide an area for community-building and socializing as well as bringing in customers to local surrounding businesses. Dogs have been known to improve people's health, increase socialization, and increase exercise and public fitness in a community. Dogs that have opportunities to socialize and exercise regularly are reported to be less aggressive, less likely to bark, less destructive, and happier. Putting a dog park in a more commercial area like Fairfax Corner or Fair Lakes will reduce noise or smell issues for residents and it will increase economic revenue for surrounding businesses. There are also very cheap ways of making dog parks, such as using part of an underused parking lot, tennis court, fields, etc. Donations can be used as well as community grants to sponsor the implementation of this. Areas like Fairfax Corner have great security and therefore crime issues would be minimal or obsolete.
