Being that the city of Des Plaines currently has no area for dogs to exercise, play and socialize, our goal in signing this petition is to establish a fenced in, off-leash dog park where well-behaved canine citizens can exercise in a clean, safe environment without endangering or annoying people, property or wildlife.

We, the citizens of Des Plaines would like to develop a beautiful, well-maintained space open to all dog lovers and friends who are willing to uphold the park's rules and restrictions, where, not only the dogs, but also the people of the city can socialize and enjoy yet another attraction within the city limits.  

Dog parks promote responsible dog ownership. The parks prevent off-leash animals from infringing on the rights of other community residents, park users such as small children and those who may be fearful of dogs.  

Dog parks are a great place for owners to meet people with common interests within the community and most importantly well exercised and socialized dogs are safer, better neighbors who are less likely to create a nuisance, bark excessively and destroy property.
