Irish Medium Special School for Northern Ireland?

Is cinnte gur áit speisialta í an scoil speisialta a thugann an deis do pháistí oideachas fóirsteanach agus iomlán a bheith acu, a ligeann dóibh comhionannas a mhothú agus barr a gcumáis a bhaint amach. Ach an bhfuil an pháiste Gaelach san áireamh?

Mar shampla, samhlaigh páiste a thosaigh amach ar bhunscoil agus i ndiaidh tamall, beartaíonn a dtuismitheoirí gur fearr é a chur chuig scoil speisialta mar gheall ar na riachtanais foghlamtha atá air. An bhfuil sé cothrom go mbíonn air imeacht ón Ghaeloideachas ar fad, imeacht ón phobal iná bhfuil sé compordach agus saol nua taobh amuigh den ghnáthrud a thoiseacht?

Cad é faoi na páistí ar tógadh le Gaeilge iad a chaithfidh dul chuig scoil Béarla de dheasca nach bhfuil na deiseanna cearta nó oideachas ceart ar fáil dóibh trí mhéan na Gaeilge?

Má tá muid díríre faoin Ghaeilge agus an ról a bheas aicí san chuid seo den tí as seo amach, nár chóir go raibh tóraíocht againn ar seo? Go háirithe agus na hacmhainní seo ar fáil i dtíortha amháil an Spáin atá ag chur oideachas ar fáil do pháistí atá riachtannais speisialta orthu i mBéarla.

An bhfuil an rogha ag gach páiste dul i dtreo an Ghaeloideachais nó freastal ar scoil Bhéarla, ach amháin na páistí atá riachtanais speisilata nó deacrachtaí foghlamtha acu?

The Special School is a special place that provides full and complete educational opportunities for children with special and addition needs. However are these same opportunities available for the Irish Speaking Child?

Some parents may choose to send their child to a mainstream school and then decide later that the special school might be the better option. However, is it right that these children are segregated from the community in which they are comfortable and what they consider ordinary life to be educated through the medium of English?

What about children how are brought up with only Irish at home? Is it fair that they can't receive a suitable standard of education in their first language?

If we are serious about the Irish language and the role it has to play in our society, shouldn’t we be demanding this resource and these rights? Especially when such resources are available in countries such as Spain, for example, who offer Special  Education through the medium of English? Why not here?

Is it fair that all children have the right to choose Irish Medium Education or to attend an English medium school, except the child with special needs?
