In Indian hospitals, Junior doctors and PG residents continue to be overhauled by the work environment, often ending up doing 60-70 hours a week.

While the MCI clearly states “no more than 48 hours a week for doctors”, this rule is trashed into dustbin forcing the doctors explicitly to work for longer hours in harsh work environments.

We request the Delhi and Central government to look into matter and set up guidelines for the work hours, so we can provide professional services without destroying our personal life.

Upon enacting proper guidelines, I am certain the number of suicides in our profession will decrease significantly, or the least- Depression severity reduction.
