As high school students we rely heavily on internet access. In a rural area like Prince George a lot of students do not have cell service and used the school wifi to communicate with their parents, teachers, and peers throughout the day. When we as students lost access to the wifi we lost a part of our freedom. 
Students and teachers have relied on apps like remind to communicate throughout the day, without internet access on our phones we cannot communicate in the ways we once did. Parents are worried about the safety of their students when they are no longer able to communicate with them. Across the nation, in emergency situations, students' communication with parents has saved lives. Without access to wifi a large number of teens are no longer able to reach their parents or guardians. 

Some students rely on other students for transportation to and from school. Without wifi it has been shown to be quite difficult to reach our rides about certain things. Some students are unable to tell their friends they need a ride home and they assume the text went through, but in reality it didn’t and the ride has now left and so has their bus. This will then fall on the administration to contact a parent or someone to come pick the student up, when the entire situation described above could have been completely avoided. 

Students at the high school level are likely to have jobs. Without student wifi we no longer have access to communicate with our employers about work. 

 Our petition has gained massive traction in just hours. We as the student body of Prince George High will not stand down from this.
