We, the undersigned residents of Dobbs Ferry, New York and adjacent communities, are appealing to you to oppose the proposed plan to demolish 41 Cedar Street and replace it with a large mixed-use development.

The businesses at 41 Cedar Street are part of the fabric of Dobbs Ferry.  While other businesses have come and gone, Caffelatte and Piccola Trattoria have been in the community for almost 30 years.  The stores, in their spaces built circa 1920, contribute to the character of the town.  The irreplaceable tin ceilings evoke nostalgic memories of a bygone era with its glory and old age charm.

While we support growth and improvement, the loss of these businesses and their beautiful building, would be detrimental to the community.  

On this basis, we urge you to oppose the proposed plan, which includes demolition of the existing building, and to save the history that is downtown Dobbs Ferry.
