Warrington Borough Council have decided to close Hallfields Road in Orford to access only traffic. This is part of the Central6 improvements work within the town.

This change will not deliver the benefits expected and the proper analysis regarding the impact of the change has not been completed to the level needed to implement a change that removes a major road route from our already strained road infrastructure in the town.

The solution of stopping access will not solve the issues it means to correct. In fact it will only add to the existing issues. The cars will still be on the road (no less traffic) and actually for longer journeys to go a long way around to access schools and businesses at the end of the closed road (increased pollution) so it is counter productive.

From the issues described, a more suitable alternative solution would be speed bumps/camera or both and a pedestrian crossing on the road. Has this been considered?

Us residents demand the council carry out proper due diligence and impact analysis of this change prior to implementing another change that will yet again negatively impact the people of Warrington.
