The burrowing owl habitat at Shoreline Park in Mountain View is the last bastion of "wild" habitat available for the burrowing owl in the surrounding area. Google wants to develop this habitat into more than 1,000 employee apartments which will destroy the burrowing owl habitat. The burrowing owl is a fragile species, but is currently thriving in this sanctuary.
Google already spent more than $150,000 in 2008 and $20,000 in 2010 to relocate or otherwise accommodate the protected burrowing owls from surrounding areas of corporate development, facilities such as a hotel and a recreation facility. Now Google wants to replace the owl housing with employee apartments. Google says this is the *only* way to recruit quality employees. Tell Google to do what's right and to "do no (more) evil" to California's burrowing owls.
