Bring Tim King Back to Penn State Hockey Broadcasts
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
As a Penn State alum, longtime Penn State season ticket holder for football and now hockey since going D1, I want say how upset I am with decision by Learfield / Penn State Sports Properties to dismiss Tim King from his broadcasting role. I follow the the hockey team religiously while on the road and home games I can't get to through the streams of those radio broadcasts, many times using the audio on top of any video feed from BTN or other sources. Tim King was part of a great broadcast team for over 5 years and together and no one bleeds more Blue and White. They also have become familiar voices to my 6 year old son (and PSU hockey superfan) who now asks "where is Tim??"
Tim was extremely knowledgable and professional. As a Penn State alum and working with the Icers booster club, he truly got what it meant to be a Penn Stater and fan of Penn State Ice Hockey. He was constantly supporting the team, both during and outside of the broadcasts. He has been a long time Alumni Association volunteer, actively helping lead the Pittsburgh Chapter and participating in events. I know him personally to drive all the way across the state just to play in a golf outing every year for the hockey team's THON child. He is very well respected among many in the Penn State alumni community as well as the Penn State Hockey community. He was also well respected by many of his broadcast peers around the Big Ten. I have no idea how any one could have found him to be objectionable, unprofessional, or in any way harmful to the Penn State community or brand. In fact it is quite the opposite. Many people I know or who are close to the team are very upset to know he has lost his job.
I hope Penn State Sports Properties / Learfield reconsider this horrible decision. I want people to know what happened to a friend of the Penn State community and a fellow alumni. I will always support the team and the players, but please let Penn State Sports Properties / Learfield, Penn State Athletics and their broadcast partners and sponsors know that we want Tim back in the booth.
