Parents of DMPS Students started this petition to DMPS School Board

While families have been worrying about the return to school in the middle of a pandemic, significant changes have been made to remove Accelerated Math options from our Middle School math curriculum.  6th Graders no longer have the option to enter Accelerated Math I and 7th graders that have already taken Accelerated Math I will be placed back into their grade level math instead of Accelerated Math II.  For this year only, 8th graders have an option to take Algebra 1, but going forward, Algebra I will not be offered until 9th grade.

The removal of accelerated math opportunities decrease the amount of challenging learning opportunities available to our children and impede these students' progress to advanced Math courses in High School.  Neighboring schools continue to have these advanced opportunities and eliminating these Middle School options for our students puts them at a disadvantage to their peers from other districts.

Join our petition demanding that DMPS revert these curriculum changes to continue providing high quality and challenging Math acceleration opportunities for current and future Middle School students!
