Petitioning DMBA insurance to offer and cover birth control for women for the purpose of preventing pregnancy. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints does not prohibit the use of birth control under religious beliefs/doctrine nor church policy, but its health insurance does. This has caused countless women to not receive the care they need, negatively impacting their physical and mental health.

The goal is to raise awareness and petition for the policy to change in favor of broadening women’s options for birth control coverage.

Research has proven financial stress negatively impacts mental health. Many recipients of this health care are college students’ attending BYU(I) and can’t afford to pay out of pocket birth control. In addition, there is a strong link between poor mental health associated with pregnancy and postpartum.

According to the Affordable Care Act, all insurances must cover birth control free of cost. Please protect women rights to have a comprehensive health care plan that lines up with their religious beliefs.
