Why this petition matters

Started by Gabe Morris

As a student at Loris High School, the rules are that students going to AAST, ATA, and Scholars Academy in Horry County Schools district count for the Valedictorian counts of the schools of Loris, Conway, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Aynor, Carolina Forest, Socastee, St. James, and Green Sea Floyd’s High Schools. I feel that students going to the program schools have an unfair advantage as they have more academic opportunities than a student that goes to a non-program school. This gives the moral dilemma as to why programs schools students count for their base schools valedictorian and salutatorian counts as they have a greater chance to be offered high level courses that count for more on their weighted GPA. If this petition gets passed, many students such as myself who excel at scholarly subjects but didn’t go to the program schools can have a chance to be the best they can and live life as smarter, better people.
