Plow the entire Diamond search area COMPLETLY and THROUGHLY
Why this petition matters

The Crater of Diamonds state park claims to have a 37 acre search area. However as of recently the field is not being properly plowed or maintained. Much of the area inside of the mine boundary is not searchable due to tall grass and weeds. Also much of the ground is very hard and almost if not already to the point of being unsearchable. Not only is it unsearchable it is also getting dangerous to be out in the field. There have been poisonous snakes caught and removed/spotted, chiggers, ticks, etc. All of this is because the field has not been maintained. The park claims the field was “sufficiently” plowed after a review was done by Director Spann the head of all parks and recreations in Arkansas. While some of the field was indeed plowed, it was not done very well and much of the area around the mine boundary was not plowed at all. The tall grass and weeds remain even as the park expands its capacity to 1000 people.
During his visit Director Spann did not get out and walk the mine boundary. Had he walked the mine boundary, Director Spann would have understood where the problem lies. With this petition we are hoping to get the Crater of Diamonds State park back to a safe and fun place to search once again!
