My Story by Michann Meadows
My name is Michann Meadows (W52504) and I'm currently incarcerated at Central California Women's Facility (CCWF). I have been in prison for 25 years and I have dedicated myself to change the person I once was and continue to work towards being a healthy compassionate human being. I know today the impact I placed on families and communities because of my crime and I am truly regretful for all the pain that I caused.
I have learned a lot about myself through self-help groups such as Victims Impact, Beyond Violence, Domestic Violent classes, Anger Management, and many more. These groups have given me an understanding to the anger I had bottled up and insight into my history of sexual abuse. I have also utilized every educational opportunity available to me in prison, earning an Associate of Arts degree from Feather River College.
I have been disciplinary free for over 10 years and have not only learned how to resolve conflicts without resorting to violence, but have the tools to mediate and resolve conflicts for others as well. I am 7 years over my minimum release date and I have done everything the parole board has asked of me.
Over time, I have endured the pain of my physical health declining and have experienced numerous medical issues. I recently suffered the tremendous loss of my father and have been unable to grieve appropriately with my family and loved ones. I would graciously like the opportunity to parole before my health declines any further. Having the freedom to grieve with my loved ones and the chance to hold my first newborn grandchild in my arms would mean the world to me.
Thank you in advance for the chance to go home and be a productive member of the world. Please sign this petition and help give me a second chance at life!
With Love, Michann
