Crosswalk for Keith Road & 23rd St W, Pemberton Heights

Crosswalk for Keith Road & 23rd St W, Pemberton Heights
The purpose of this petition is to request the District of North Vancouver (DNV) consider a crosswalk with possible lights at the intersection of Keith Road and 23rd St W, Pemberton Heights, North Vancouver. Making this street improvement will enhance the safety and functionality of our neighbourhood and community. This will allow pedestrians and cyclists cross Keith Road and 23rd St W safely.
Problems with this intersection include the following:
1. Cars come into and out of Pemberton Heights very quickly at this entry and exit point. Crossing at this intersection is very unsafe to cross without a crosswalk. Crossing this intersection is especially dangerous for young children, elderly people, or disabled people to cross in a timely matter. A blinking caution light at the crosswalk would be ideal so vehicles can slow down.
2. This is the only intersection to cross 23rd St W for pedestrians and cyclists. This affects children and adults alike. There are no sidewalks along Keith Road going south therefore there is no way of getting to the closest cross walk (Keith Road and 22nd St W) safely without walking or cycling on the road.
3. There are a number of parked cars along Keith Road going north and south bound which makes it very difficult to see if there are oncoming cars when crossing this intersection.
In conclusion, we request that the DNV approve the proposed crosswalk at Keith Road and 23rd St W. Signing this petition will help improve the safety of our incredible neighbourhood, Pemberton Heights. Let's make it even better! Thank you for your support!
