D303 Needs A Mandate

D303 Needs A Mandate
Thanks to a downstate Sangamon County Judges ruling, Illinois has a TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) on mask mandates. D303 was one of the districts listed on this lawsuit, because of this the district can only highly recommend mask use. D303 should defy orders from the TRO and should REQUIRE mask use in all D303 buildings. Anti-maskers are such a minority. D303 school board needs to listen to what the students want, not what just parents want. Because a choice that impacts our education should be left to the staff and students of D303 to decide. Our health is more important than someone’s “right” to not wear a mask. With over two million Covid-19 cases in the state of Illinois, we should be taking this seriously. Removing the mask mandate while we’re still in a pandemic puts the state at risk of high numbers of Covid-19. And without contact tracing and weekly tests to those who chose to be unvaccinated, we are putting unnecessary risks that won’t affect those on the school board but will affect us. District 303 needs to take this serious and listen to those whom this affects, because students and staff are not to be ignored. This pandemic isn’t to be ignored. And those who have grandparents, family members, and siblings with pre-existing medical conditions are not to be ignored.
