Countless studies have shown that early school start times are associated with students getting less sleep, which negatively affects student academic performance. Students with less sleep have difficulty paying attention in class and are likely to have lower grades. They may also experience irritability and fatigue

As A student I would like to not have to get up early in the morning. I feel very tired in the morning and it affects my mood at school. I believe that the majority of people in my school would agree that school starts too early even if it is just a 40-minute difference in the start time of the school I believe that it will help.

Early in the morning here in Minnesota, it is very cold. The day that I wrote this petition it was -10 degrees when I was walking to the bus stop. It is very cold and easy to get frostbite when you might not have expected the weather when the news says that it will be warmer we expect it to be warm when we wake up but in reality, the news is talking about later in the day when the sun is up. When we go to the bus stop the sun isn't even up yet and in Minnesota, the sun rises around 7:30, and most of the busses around 6:50 and 7:15 and we get to school around the time that the sun starts rising (7:30ish) so we still have to walk from the bus tired and in the cold weather.
