The District 28 School Board has decided to cut the Taste of FACS program from their curriculum. This program, taught by Ms. Stephanie Badzioch allowed students to learn skills that could help them further on in life, such as sewing and cooking. Cutting this program could result in students not knowing how to make a healthy meal for themselves or a group, and not knowing how to sew a hole in their ripped clothing. Now, as middle schoolers, we are starting to gain the responsibility of taking care of ourselves. Without this class, many would lack skills necessary to do that correctly. If you think about the world around us right now, cooking and sewing are especially important for a lot of families. Sewing masks for healthcare workers and making food for our families and others are a really important set of skills to have. Also, this class was incredibly helpful and enjoyable for everyone who took the class over the five years that Ms. Badzioch taught at Northbrook Junior High. By signing this petition, you will help us show the School Board that they should keep Taste of FACS, Healthy Eating, and the other classes taught by Stephanie Badzioch in the District 28 schedule. We as students and parents believe that cutting this curriculum is the wrong decision for Northbrook Junior High students and will greatly put them at a life skills disadvantage. Thank you for you support and dedication to helping District 28.
