Diversity is important in District 230. We have many various religions in this district, each with its own set of holidays. Christmas is a holiday that is mostly observed by Christians. Because it is a holiday, District 230 allows all students and staff to have the week of Christmas off.

     Eid is a Islamic holiday that is observed all around the world. There is a considerable Muslim population in District 230, and the numbers are rising.

     District 230 does not take this into account and does not give students and employees a formal day off on our important holiday. It is possible to change this unfair event by raising awareness of it. District 230 should be able to grant the community an official day off for Eid because it is just as important. 

More actions will be taken in the future, this petition is just to determine how many people support.
