Other schools in the northern suburbs such as Stevenson and Lake Zurich have plans to reschedule prom and graduation... why don't we? The student body of District 214, the Class of 2020 in specific, has worked tirelessly for years in hopes to celebrate their achievements. In these times of uncertainty, the health and safety of our community is most certainly our PRIORITY. The Class of 2020 is simply asking for a rescheduling of these lifelong awaited events, not a cancellation. Sporting and academic events have already been cancelled. We have already lost so much of our senior year and are simply trying to prevent any further damage. It is understood that these are unpredictable times and we must be flexible. However, as a student body, we are asking the district 214 board and Hersey administration (as well as the administrations of neighboring schools) to honor our efforts with a proper celebration at a time that is deemed safe.

This petition was made in response to the District’s response to the CoVid-19 pandemic via email including, but not limited to, a general email from the district superintendent and repeated, vague replies to concerned students from the District. We realize the circumstances we are under in full and we appreciate all of those on the front lines in these unpredictable times!
