I believe that if students finish a semester with an “A” in a class, they should not have to take the final exam. These students have proven they are both hardworking and know the material that is being taught. In order for a student to maintain an “A” in a class, they must have at least a 90% average in the following categories: assessments, homework, and class work. It is unfair to the students that apply themselves academically and work hard all semester, to have their grade tanked by one final exam. This new approach will encourage all students to work hard and better their grades throughout the semester, which will in turn improve the schools’ overall performance. Also, by eliminating finals for these students it will decrease the already high stress levels teens experience during high school. In conclusion, eliminating the final exam for students with “A’s” in their classes, will prove beneficial for the students and for the school.
