Petition To Save Sea GrapesAt South 16th Street, Cocoa Beach(Robert P. Murkshe Memorial Park)

The State of Florida, Brevard County, and the County Parks Department have approved, in secret, plans for the scalping of the 30 foot high
Sea Grapes along the eastern or ocean boarder of the South 16th Street Cocoa Beach Park. These plans call for the removal of one third of the current Sea Grape height which will be a lot of greenery cut down. If plans follow through it will destroy the scenic walkway tunnel and the beauty of the Sea Grapes as viewed from both the ocean and from within the park. The Sea Grapes themselves absorb energy during hurricanes and help protect structures, etc. on the reverse side. Therefore, we the people hereby petition Brevard County to cancel plans to scalp, prune, cut, etc. the existing Sea Grapes at 16th Street South Cocoa Beach.
