Hello, We are 4th graders in Austin, TX.

I remember always watching the princess movies with my family I collected the costumes too. I remember on one of my trips to Mexico I ran down the stairs in a Cinderella costume and hurt my head, since that moment I started to be a lot more curious and realized what Cinderella was doing on those stairs and how important the prince is in the story. The princess normally does not save herself. Whether it is a prince or anyone or thing that saves her.

In Wreck it Ralph 2 the princesses ask “Were you saved by a big strong man?” and when Vanellope says yes they say “Your a princess!” in that room you see Jasmine, Rapunzel, Ariel, Snow White, Mulan, Elsa, Anna, Pocahontas, Tiana, Belle, Aurora/Sleeping beauty, Moana, Cinderella, and Merida and all of them say “Your a princess!” at the same time. All of those Princesses had a savior. How come being saved by a man makes you a princess?

When I was little, I would watch little clips of the disney princess movies, and they would always have the same story line. Where there was a princess and she falls in love with a prince and the prince saves her from anything.

Since Snow White came out all the princesses have followed her footsteps and had a guy or anyone else come and save her. Also a lot of rules on being a princess like being born royalty. Why couldn’t kids like me be in those movies?

When I was little, I loved all of the Disney Princess movies. They were my favorite movies at the time. But there is not a Disney princess that doesn't have a prince. But I researched what it has to be to be a Disney Princess, and I found this in the list: The character should be born royal, married royal, or has performed an act of heroism in cases of Mulan and Moana.
I think that being a hero without a partner should be the main point of being a Princess.
Why? Because little girls that watch Disney Princess movies would want to be like the princess. And some little girls try to change there real self just to pretend to be the princess. Little girls want to be like the princess, and princesses have to be saved, right? They could learn to let someone just save them, but girls are so much stronger than what you see on a screen!
The princess is always saved, even in the most recent movies like Moana it seems that Maui is the person who saves her when something bad happens. We thought and still think this is bad.

We all think that you should make a Disney Princess that doesn’t have a prince or a savier. The princess should be different and follow her own rules!

Hopefully the next princess on screen will be able to save herself!
Thank You!
