In  the recent Liberal Budget announcement the Federal Health minister decided to help Prostate Cancer patients with the BRCA2 gene mutation but Pancreatic Cancer patients with the same gene mutation were not included for this treatment option.  The TGA approved PARP inhibitors for Pancreatic Cancer in April 2021 and for Prostate Cancer in May 2021.  The TGA decision is a medical one, whilst the Government's decision is a political one which clearly discriminates against Pancreatic patients who have to pay around $7000 per month for the treatment. This is clearly unfair and a situation which needs to be addressed for Pancreatic Cancer sufferers who could benefit from this treatment.
