I want to create this petition as someone who is hearing impaired and majority of the time is required to not wear masks. Day to day hearing impaired people struggle to hear/lip read etc never mind in a Covid pandemic where it is mandatory to wear masks. I want you to put yourself in my shoes as well as other hearing impaired people imagine not being able to hear in general then to have to wear a mask it alters how you hear as the straps on the masks are uncomfortable when it rubs against your hearing aids and makes them not work to the full capacity that they’re meant to. I also want to state that as someone who is hearing impaired and requires the use of lip reading to be able to engage in a conversation with others masks are very difficult to fulfil that. Having store colleagues, bus drivers etc as well and who people walk around you asking why you’re exempt as well as people who are with its causes mass panic as well as embarrassment. You shouldn’t have to feel like you have to prove yourself as to why you’re exempt and which disability you have. So can I please and stress the please can you sign this petition to change the stigma against the exemption of the masks. To add to this it causes mass mental health issues as deaf people wearing masks cannot communicate with peers wearing masks. Thanks.
