Keeping Gender Pronouns and Bathroom Usage The Same at Sullivan East High School

In Response to the signatures obtained to radically change protocol at Sullivan East High school by opening up restrooms to either sex and only using gender “appropriate” pronouns, it’s necessary to show support to the staff and school board for their resilience in not curbing to such demands. First of all, as former President Reagan stated, “All of it began the first time some of you who know better... let young people think they had the right to choose the laws they would obey as long as they were doing it in the name of social protest”. If that statement in itself is not enough, then one only has to look towards facts. At Sullivan East High School, we have already faced an issue regarding two students having sex in the restroom, do we now want to encourage individuals to do this more freely? Secondly, if we can’t “police” bathrooms to make sure the right sex is entering them, then how can we police the entire English language to fit the narrative of a minority? And would we want too? It’s been mentioned that teachers would have to use pronouns such as “they” to describe a male or a female... something awfully close to endangering free speech. Thirdly, school is far from a place that aims to please its student body. If they limit the color of someone’s hair to avoid distraction, then they have every right to limit who enters what restroom.
