On the morning of the 3rd of May 2018, IB students all over the world sat for their Mathematics Higher Level Paper 2 examination. After several discussions between students from all over the world, it was clear that there was a problem with the difficulty of the exams. As of May 2014, the IB introduced an updated curriculum of the Mathematics course. From 2014 and on, the grade boundaries and the difficulty of the exams maintained a constant balance. As for this year, the students faced an increased difficulty in the Mathematics Higher Level Paper 2 examination in comparison to that of previous years (with the identical curriculum). Therefore, if the exams are to have the same grade boundaries as that of the previous years, this would have a negative impact on the students rather than a neutral or positive one. Being part of the IB programme has allowed students the opportunity to experience an outstanding depth of education, that we are all grateful for. We thank you in advance.
