This policy is neither a political stand, nor a selfish ask, it is a petition to do what is right for the kids. After being 9 out of 50 states to wear masks still in 2022, the governor’s policy regarding mask mandates was overturned and it is now illegal to force students to wear masks. Mr Davidson, principal of ICCP is still complying with the diocese of Joliet, enforcing masks in school. Visitation grade school is now mask optional, and at IC grade school you are allowed to bring a note to not wear a mask. This petition is to have ICCP go mask optional, allowing students the freedom to choose to wear a mask or not- following the law. Not only is this unfair to the students of ICCP, this is also a violation of rights, and needs to be put to an end. During COVID, students ages 14-18 have been in the category of least at risk. Yes, COVID has caused deaths and some students live with grandparents or others of risk. That is why the school needs to go mask OPTIONAL, so that students that feel the need to wear a mask can wear one. Mental health issues are at an all time high during this time, and it is important that while teens are in their most crucial growing stages ( physiological, and physical) they grow the right way. It is time to put an end to the past mandates, obey the law, and give students what they deserve. EDUCATION, not INDOCTRINATION. Thank you for reading.
